How do I do an ÖBB Rail&Drive vehicle check?
Tapping "Start task" opens the completion flow with the digital checklist. You check the odometer, document folder, interior, exterior and tyres, and upload the photos. Every item is mandatory.
Applies in Vienna, Innsbruck
Steps
- Unlock the vehicle with your key card and tap "Start task". Upload the before photo first. The further steps in the form only appear after it is uploaded.
- Odometer and vehicle type. Enter the odometer reading from the cockpit. The portal knows whether the car is a combustion or electric vehicle and adapts the checklist automatically.
- Document folder. Tick every item: fuel card BP, fuel card DKV (or DKV Charge and Wien Energie charging card for EVs), fuel receipts removed, vehicle registration, parking permits, international insurance card (green card), "damage list" form, European accident report, damage claim form REQ, usage permit / power of attorney, cash payment receipt. If something is missing, note it in the comment field.
- Interior. Check and confirm: digital vignette sticker, hi-vis vest, warning triangle, first-aid kit (check the expiry date), ice scraper / snow brush. Wipe the cockpit, remove rubbish and vacuum yourself, then tick it off. Also confirm the fuel level (at least ¼ full) or the charge level for EVs, and answer the question about warning messages on the display.
- Interior photos. After cleaning the interior, upload one photo of the interior front and one of the interior rear.
- Exterior. Check that the §57a inspection sticker is valid and undamaged, top up the windscreen washer (use the fuel card if needed), and check for visible damage. If there is damage, add a short description and upload a photo.
- Tyres. Select the tyre type (summer, winter or all-season) and enter the tread depth in mm for all four wheels (FL, FR, RL, RR). Upload a photo of the measurement for each tyre, and report visible tyre damage.
- Exterior wash. If the task includes one, a further photo is added once the vehicle is back at its location.
- Confirm that the vehicle is locked with the key card, the equipment has been returned and, for electric vehicles, the charging cable is plugged back in.
- Review the payout summary with the base pay, add-ons and total, then complete the task.
Measuring tread depth
- Place the tread gauge in the groove.
- Read the value in mm and enter it in the portal.
- Upload a photo of the measurement for each tyre.
Notes
- Innsbruck: the charging card in the document folder may differ from Vienna, details to follow.
- Never leave anything blank. If a document or item is missing, answer "no" and describe it in the comment field.
- Document anything unusual, such as damage, warning messages or missing items, with a comment and a photo for ÖBB.
- If something is missing when you complete, the portal shows an error listing what is still open.
